This Nuvvuagittuq Greenstone Belt specimen includes a box with a descriptive sticker on the bottom (see penultimate photo). One area of the rock has been cut away; the last photo is an enlargement of this cut area. The Nuvvuagittuq Greenstone Belt is located on the eastern shore of Hudson Bay (Canada). After a report from 2017 there is a debate on fossils of microorganisms in these rocks, which would be the oldest trace of life yet discovered on Earth.
